Over 200 tractors cruise through the area on 20th Annual Red Rock Threshers Ride

Some of the 240 tractors on the Red Rock Threshers Ride are parked in the south parking lot at Sully First Reformed Church on Friday morning.

The 20th Annual Red Rock Threshers Tractor Ride overnighted at Pella Christian High School July 14 and 15. Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 14, approximately 240 of the 289 registered for the ride traveled from PCHS through Peoria, past Sully Christian School and Key Co-op, around the south and east sides of the Sully square, and then east to Sully First Reformed Church for their morning snack break. From Sully, they went to Newton for lunch, to Monroe for afternoon break, and back to Pella. Saturday, their ride took them south of Pella including the Lake Red Rock area.

The ride was divided into one group 16 mph, two groups 14 mph, and two groups 12 mph for the 79-mile ride on Friday. Saturday’s ride was 59 miles long.

Randy Huyser of Sully was chairman of the ride this year. Ruth De Bruin was in charge of registrations. Others on the committee were Henry Van Roekel, Lawrence Roose, Darrell Maasdam, Carleen Maasdam, Ed Van Kooten, Jim De Bruin, and Dwayne Maasdam.

On the 20th Annual Red Rock Threshers Tractor Ride, every color of tractor with drivers of all ages came through Sully Friday morning, July 15, for morning break at Sully First Reformed Church enroute to Newton on the 79-mile ride. La Rose Marie Bakery of Sully provided baked goods and beverages for freewill donations. After a half-inch rainfall in the early morning hours, the cool day turned into a typical hot summer day in Iowa.
