For the fourth consecutive year, the Lynnville-Sully Community Education Foundation (LSCEF) awarded thousands of dollars to deserving teachers. The nearly $5,000 awarded in 2017 will fund a variety of special items and projects ranging from a 3D printer to physical education supplies.
LSCEF Director Kyra Smith notes a subcommittee of five people from the LSCEF Board of Directors read and scored all grant applications. Seven projects will be fully funded by the 2017 grants, and two will be partially funded.
“We are very thankful for the donations of businesses and individuals who see this program as valuable and have helped us to continue awarding $5,000 in grants the last four years,” said Smith.
Mrs. Lisa Martin, second-grade teacher, expressed her appreciation for the grants, “I am thrilled to receive a teacher grant to be used for purchasing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) materials for our second-grade classrooms. It is exciting to be able to purchase the materials needed to help create the next generation of critical thinkers and innovators."
