Wilma Rozendaal, 103, of Pella and formerly of Sully, died Apr. 6, 2020. Private interment for immediate family was held Tuesday, Apr. 7 at Sully Cemetery. Memorials have been designated for Sully First Reformed Church and Wesley Life Hospice.

Wilma Florence (Eckhoff) Rozendaal was the sixth of nine children born to Peter G. and Johanna G. (Timmermans) Eckhoff on Aug. 17, 1916, in Platte, SD.

In 1925, she moved with her family to Hollandale, MN. After graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1933, she did housework for others, including Adrian Rozendaal’s sister, Pearl Reynen. There she met Adrian when he came to help with the harvest the fall of 1934, as there had been a crop failure in this area. On Nov. 28, 1935, she married Adrian at her parents’ home and moved to a farm near Sully. They were blessed with five children: Wayne Rozendaal of Denver, CO, Joyce (Roger) Stubbe of Pella, Lucille (Clifford) Schaper of Colo, Mary Jane Rozendaal of Des Moines, and Anthony (Anita) Rozendaal of East Troy, WI; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Wilma confessed Jesus Christ as Lord at an early age and served the Lord in the Hollandale Reformed Church. After her marriage, she was active in women’s work and in the Sunday school at Sully First Reformed Church. She always had a vital interest in mission work and used her sewing expertise to minister to many.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; her brothers: George, John, Ed, and Bill; her sisters: Ella, Pearl, an infant sister, Florence (Mrs. Marion Swank), and two daughters-in-law: Audrey (Mrs. Tony Rozendaal) and Margaret (Mrs. Wayne Rozendaal).
