Weston Antle, 70

Weston Dene Antle, 70, of Newton, formerly of Killduff, died on Sunday, Apr. 10, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Apr. 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League or Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the funeral home.

Wes, the son of Max W. and Jennetta I. (Van Wyk) Antle, was born on Jan. 2, 1946, in Newton. He attended Buena Vista #9 Country School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Wes lived all of his life in Jasper County, where he farmed two miles west of Killduff. He also ran Wes’ Repair, a welding business, out of his shop on the farm. Since 1996, he had farmed with his son, Bob.

Wes enjoyed traveling, going out to eat and to Prairie Meadows, and working on his tractors and old cars. He also was very creative and talented in building things. He could build anything without using a blueprint.

Those left to honor his memory are his son, Bob (Amy) Antle of Newton; daughter, Carrie (John) Stilley of Sully; grandchildren, Shane Jansen, Dusti Antle, Jarrett Antle, Chelsea Alter, and Taylor Alter; his sister, Barb (Darrel) Jansen of Sully; and his loving companion, Carolyn Ball of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
