Wanda was born July 5, 1925, to William and Nellie Terpstra, at her family farm west of Lynnville.

Wanda enjoyed staying active. Her involvement in church, school, and community activities spanned her lifetime. A 1942 graduate of Lynnville High School, she and her late husband Cornie married in 1943 and were married for 63 years. Cornie, a brother-in-law’s relative, knew Wanda for many years. He would take her to Sunday evening church services while they were dating. They were blessed with four children: Melvin, Marlis, Carna, and Curt.

Wanda’s involvement in the church included being a Sunday school superintendent and teacher as well as junior choir director for seven years; a member of the church choir under Helen Macy’s direction; a member of Bible study and Martha Circle for many years; and she attended Margaret Vande Krol’s adult Sunday school classes. She currently attended cottage prayer meetings and enjoyed sewing days at Sully First Reformed Church and Lynnville Friends Church. She enjoyed the fellowship, music, God’s word being spoken, and love of Jesus expressed at First Reformed Church. Wanda’s favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. Her favorite memories include singing in the Christmas and Easter cantatas.

She was also a member of Lynnville Historical Society, Lynnville Women’s Club, Jasper County Women’s Chorus, and her local neighborhood club.

When her children were growing up, she was a 4-H club and Girl Scouts leader and supported their cheerleading and basketball activities.

Wanda had fond memories of her travels with Cornie. They traveled annually to Brownsville, TX, for 13 years during the months of January through March. Cornie and Wanda enjoyed leading and participating in a variety of activities while in Brownsville.
