Virginia Mae Ewing, 55

Ginny Ewing, 55, of Ewart passed away peace-fully Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, under hospice care. Funeral services were Jan. 19 at Community Hope Church in Montezuma. Memorials may be directed to the Youth Ministry at Community Hope Church.

Virginia Mae "Ginny" Ewing was born Jan. 22, 1959, the daughter of Phillip and Eva Mae (Roelofsen) Proudfit. Ginny attended Sully Christian School and Lynnville- Sully High School. She was united in marriage to Michael Ewing on May 2, 1989, at the Little Brown Church. Together they raised four children: Travis, Dusty, Randi, and April.

Ginny was a hard worker and worked at several jobs including the produce department at Walmart, Monte Manufacturing, and the manager of Break Pointe. She loved to read, watch movies on the Lifetime Network, shop for and collect purses, her dogs Chi Chi and Foxy, gardening and her flowers, and dining out. Her greatest joy was her family and grandchildren. Her faith was strong and she especially loved church and Bible study. She was a caregiver for a number of years for several area people.

Ginny was preceded in death by her father; Phillip Proudfit; and her son, Travis Schmidt.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Ewing of Ewart; her mother, Eva Mae Proudfit of Grinnell; her children, Dusty (Mike McKee) Jackson of Montezuma, Randi (Brad) Sincox of Montezuma, and April (Mike Cox) Ewing of Montezuma; her grandchildren, Travis Lewis, Shawn Jackson, Desirae Jackson, Sydney Thompson, Zachary Jackson, Taya Sincox, Ryah Thompson, and Kori Link; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mark and Marla Ewing and Rick and Sheryl Snook and their families; her brother, Lester Proudfit of Oskaloosa; and her sister, Lana Proudfit of Grinnell.
