Verle Lint, 85

 

Verle Lint, 85, of Victor, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at Brooklyn Community Estate in Brooklyn. The family received friends for visitation Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Smith Funeral Home in Victor followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. A private family graveside service with military honors was held Wednesday at Victor Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be designated the Verle Lint Memorial Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.

Verle Edgar Lint was born Mar. 17, 1936, in Mingo to Evelyn (Rankin) and Clarence Lint. He attended various schools in Iowa. Verle enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan. 31, 1955, and was stationed on an aircraft carrier for four years.

Verle was united in marriage to Joyce Bendschneider Van Lancker on June 5, 1975. They were blessed with a son, Kyle in 1977. Verle also had five children from a previous marriage. He arrived in the Victor area as a laborer with a bridge building company when Interstate 80 was under construction. He eventually decided he liked the community and stayed in the area. He spent many years as a truck driver.

Verle was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved attending his children’s sporting events and later his granddaughter’s softball games.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Sherrie (Brian) Hasse-brock, John (Becky) Lint, Carla Ribby, Judith (Dan) Mahoney, and Kyle (Susan) Lint; grandchildren, Erica James, Justin Roth, Shane Lint, Ashley Lint, Lindsey Lewis, Ryan Faas, Storm Ribby, DesiRay Sebetka, Darian McFatridge, Dakota McFatridge, Kelsey Lint, Kaylee Lint, Elijah Lint, Jordan Van Lancker, and Jaylin Van Lancker; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Verle Jr.; and stepson Edward Van Lancker.
