Valerie Rolffs, 65

Valerie Rolffs, 65, of Lynnville, passed away Apr. 21, 2025, at Pella Regional Health Center. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Apr. 26, at Sully First Reformed Church. Burial was in Sully Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to UICH Holden Cancer Center at Iowa City.

Valerie Faye Rolffs was born Jan. 27, 1960, the daughter of Bruce and Shirley (Jansen) Baarda at Dugway Proving Ground Military Hospital in Dugway, UT, where her dad was serving in the U.S. Army.  She lived all of her life in the Lynnville-Sully area. Valerie graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School in 1978 and began working for Kellogg Savings Bank for three years before joining the branch in Sully and retiring after 45 years in 2024.  Valerie made many lifelong friends with co-workers and customers.

Aug. 14, 1981, Valerie married her high school sweetheart, Scott Edwin Rolffs, at Sully First Reformed Church. They became the parents of three children Corey Scott, Cole Derek, and Aimee Renee. Valerie’s pride and joy were her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outside, cooking, hospitality, family dinners, and preparing all the holiday meals. Her goal was that each grandchild would think that they were her favorite. She was a member of Sully First Reformed Church.

Valerie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Scott of Lynnville; her children Corey (Steph Ramsey) Rolffs of Iowa City, Cole (Leah) Rolffs of West Des Moines, and Aimee (Josh) Nikkel of Lynnville; her grandchildren Addilynn, Shea, Rhys, Ellanora, Perry, Jovie, Camden, Chet, and Cashmen; her brother Kent (Jo) Baarda of Sully; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
