Timothy “Tim” Terrance Kelly, 70, of Newton died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at his home. A celebration of life visitation will be held 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St Jude Children’s Hospital or Newton Booster Club may be left at the funeral home.
Tim, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Coop) Kelly, was born Apr. 29, 1954, in Newton. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1972. Mar. 21, 1975, Tim was married to Patrician Hagen in Grinnell. They spent time in Syracuse, NY, and Lake Tahoe, CA, before returning to Newton in 1978. Tim worked for many years at Thombert, retiring in 2018. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tim enjoyed golfing, watching football, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved time spent with his family and friends or just hanging out in his garage.
Tim is survived by his sons Sean (Stephanie) Kelly of Kansas City, MO, and Scott Kelly of Sully; grandchildren Caden, Bellamy, and Declan Kelly and Will and Evelyn Kelly; his siblings Patrick Kelly of Bettendorf, Michael (Brenda) Kelly of Michigan, Teresa (Rick) Stewart of Newton, Lisa Cummins of Newton, and James Kelly of Texas; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cynthia Kelly.
