Shirley Meeks, 78, formerly of Lynnville, died Apr. 28, 2022. Visitation was held 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Funeral services will be held in Ripley, MS, on Tuesday, May 10. Memorials have been designated for Christian Opportunity Center, Pella.
Shirley Ann Meeks was born Sept. 10, 1943, to Joseph Gamble and Annie Mae (Munn) Cutberth in Tippah County, MS. Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Walnut High School in Walnut, MS.
Apr. 29, 1961, she was united in marriage to Roy Doyle Meeks in Florence, AL. To this union they were blessed with two daughters Sharon and Carol.
Shirley and Roy lived in many states before settling in Iowa for the majority of their life. Shirley worked in the education department at Grinnell Mutual Insurance, and she worked as a cashier at Fareway in Knoxville. Shirley enjoyed quilting with friends and going on bus tours. She especially loved her grandchildren and Sunday dinners with her family. Shirley was a member of the Knoxville Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and their families, Sharon (Bill) Wisse and Carol (Jonathan) Steele; and her sister Delilah Byrd of Collierville, TN.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her parents-in-law Roy and Blanche Meeks, her sister Billie Ruth Cardwell, and her brothers Troy Cutberth and Charles Cutberth.
