Ruth and Arnold moved into Pella in 2008 where they were living when he passed away Apr. 3, 2011, at the age of 85 years. They were privileged to share 62 years of married life together, and Ruth continued to reside in their duplex until the time of her death May 11 at Pella Regional Health Center.

Ruth was very fond of her family: Kathy (Irvin) Rozenboom of Altoona, Leanne (John) Hogan of Pella, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Of her original family, Ruth leaves her brother-in-law William Vander Meyden and a sister-in-law Geraldine Ozinga, both of Oskaloosa.
