Roger B. Van Wyk, 76

                Roger Bryce Van Wyk, 76, of Akron, NY, died May 10, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

                Roger was born Nov. 1, 1943, to Gysbert “Bert” and Pauline (Ver Steegt) Van Wyk in rural Jasper County and raised in Sully. He married Susan A. Williams on May 9, 1964, in Oskaloosa. Roger and Susan moved to New York in the late 1960s, settling in Akron, NY. Roger worked at Strippit LVD as a sheet metal machinist for many years. Roger enjoyed many hobbies including raising fish, building and flying remote-controlled planes, and his favorite hobby, woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and in his later years, going to and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

                Left to cherish his memory are Susan, his wife of 56 years; three sons, Corbin W. (Diane), Scott A. (Cristina), and Nathan B. (Barbara) Van Wyk; grandchildren, Sidney (Caleb) Lee, Vanessa, Christian, Evan, and Stella Van Wyk; and several nieces. Roger is also survived by his stepmother Nellie Vander Wilt Van Wyk of Oskaloosa and his sister-in-law Lois D. Van Wyk of Pella.                 Preceding Roger in death were his parents and his brother Norman W. Van Wyk
