Robert M. Slegh, 87

Robert M. Slegh, 87 of Prairie City, passed away on Thursday, Apr. 2, 2015, at Park Centre in Newton. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Apr. 7, at 2 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Burial was at Waveland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Park Centre Activity Department.

The son of Dick and Hattie Marie (Klyn) Slegh, Bob was born Oct. 12, 1927, west of Newton. Sept. 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Bertine Lewis in Newton. Bob farmed and worked at Pella Corp for 14 years. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the V.F.W. He was also a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and doing yard work. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include wife, Bertine; a son, Jerry (Nancy) Slegh of Prairie City; three grandchildren, Kristi (Jamie) Webb of Prairie City and their children, Beau, Easton, and Camden; Nicole (Major Alexander, USMC) Pudol of Odenton, MD, and their children, KyraNicole and Wilhelmina; and Kelly (Nate) Mosher of Prairie City and their children, Jaxton, Scarlett, and Charlee. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Edith Slegh of Des Moines. Preceding Bob in death were his parents and a brother, Arthur.
