Rev. Wayne E. Bekkering, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Resurrection Day, Apr. 1, 2018. He was born Dec. 20, 1942, in Byron Center, MI. He served four Protestant Reformed congregations as pastor and then spent three years serving as a missionary in Ghana, West Africa.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis; children, Dale (Trish) Bekkering, Lynn (Steve) De Boef, Dean (Candace) Bekkering, Julie (Lauren) Van Wyk, Doug (Lori) Bekkering, Ruth (Josh) Walters, Wanda (Jason) Brand, Brenda (Steve) Faber, and Amy (Daniel) Roorda; 39 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandson, Nolan Faber. Also surviving are his three brothers, Roger (Karen), Calvin (Sally), and David (Linda); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 5, at Hudsonville Protestant Reformed Church, 5101 Beechtree, Hudsonville, MI.
