Rande Henkle, 56

Rande Henkle, 56, of Monte-zuma passed away peacefully Saturday, Mar. 26, 2016, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center with his family by his side. Funeral services were Mar. 30 at Montezuma United Methodist Church. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department.

Randell Lee Henkle, son of Roger and Karen Sue (McClain) Henkle, was born Aug. 12, 1959, in Grinnell.

He was a 1978 graduate of Montezuma High School. Rande attended Lincoln Tech College in Des Moines and received a mechanical degree in 1980.

Jan. 5, 1980, Rande was united in marriage to Paula Bennett. To this union three children were born, Miranda, Megan, and Cole.

Rande worked for John Deere, Thermogas, and Poweshiek County before driving truck for Walmart in 1995. He drove truck for 12 years before opening Moon Creek Unlimited in 2007 south of Montezuma.

Rande was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities.

He had a passion for NASCAR and cheering on his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhart, Sr. and Jr. Rande enjoyed camping, hunting, and a good conversation with customers who came into his shop.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the United Methodist Church, and a 35-year member of the Montezuma Fire Department.

His memory will be honored by his wife, Paula Henkle of Montezuma; his children: Miranda (Shannon) Arthur of Pella, Megan Strong of Montezuma, and Cole Henkle of Urbandale; five grandchildren: Kodie Strong, Shaye Strong, Aubree Arthur, Trinity Arthur, and Trew Arthur; two sisters, Robin (John) Mann of Malcom and Heidi (Dan) Thompson of Grinnell; an uncle, William (Leila) Henkle of Montezuma; an aunt, Sally (Denny) Johnston of Montezuma; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rande was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rhonda.
