Patricia Wichhart, 88, of Pella, passed away peace-fully in her sleep Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at The Cottages. Funeral services were held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 27, in the auditorium of Third Church, Pella. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Leighton. Memorials may be designated for Third Church or Pella Food Shelf.
Patricia Gladys Jewell was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Des Moines. She was the daughter of Thomas Roy and Ruth Christine (Jennings) Jewell. Pat received Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the age of 18 at First Baptist Church in Monroe. She graduated with the Class of 1954 from Monroe High School.
Pat and Bob Wichhart met on a blind date, following his discharge. They were united in marriage Jan. 4, 1957, at First Baptist Church in Monroe. To this union, three daughters were born: Debra Lee in 1957, Cindy Lou in 1959, and Peggy Sue in 1960. Their daughter Cindy Lou passed away unexpectedly in 1962 at the age of three years. Following their marriage, Bob and Pat began farming near Leighton and then near Lake Keomah at Oskaloosa until moving to the Lower Grove vicinity near Peoria. July 10, 2014, Bob passed away at Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of 81 years. Pat was left with a devastating loss. Shortly after Bob’s passing, Pat moved to Pella and lived at various care facilities in the area due to her health-care needs. She was currently a resident at The Cottages in Pella.
Pat is survived by two daughters Debra (David) Pryor of Pella; and Peggy (Galen) Rozenboom of Sully, Bradley David Rozenboom of Pella and Kelsey (Tony) Miller of Atlantic and Harleigh Rozenboom-Faber, Josie Miller, and Dean Miller; three step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. Of her original family, she leaves a brother Joe Furrow of Marshalltown, sister Sharon Mino of Kentucky, and brother-in-law Mike Weitzell of Gladbrook. Of Bob’s family, she leaves his two sisters and their husbands Donna (Jaren) Steenhoek of Pella and Helen (Mohsen) Bagherian of Colorado; sisters-in-law Marlena (late Clarence) Wichhart of Pella and Sally (late Ralph) Wichhart of Pella; and brother-in-law Harold (late Shirley) Rozendaal and his wife Velma of Sully; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; daughter Cindy Lou; sisters Shirley Weitzell and Sandy Furrow; parents; stepfather Raymond Furrow; sister-in law Shirley J. Rozendaal; and brothers-in-law Ralph and Clarence Wichhart.
Pat was a faithful member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa.
