Pam Bolles, 65

Pamela Fay “Pam” Bolles, was born in Grinnell on Sept. 23, 1959, the daughter of Bernie J. and Betty Marie (Laverman) Nikkel.

Pam was a graduate of Pella Christian High School with the Class of 1978. She then attended Dordt University for one year and then pursued nurse’s training at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Sioux City. After acquiring her Registered Nurse Degree, Pam worked most of her nursing career at Methodist Hospital Burn Unit.

Oct. 3, 1981, in Pella, Pam was united in marriage to Paul Alan Bolles. They made their home in Prairie City and later in Altoona.  Pam worked for nursing homes in Prairie City and Newton and retired as workman comp liaison for an insurance company. Pam loved spending time with family, gardening, cooking, going to lunch with her sister, taking motorcycle rides, enjoying day trips with her friends, and rooting on the Kansas City Chiefs.

July 20, 2023, Pam entered through the Gates of Glory and into her eternal reward with her Savior.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son Scott on Feb. 21, 2017; brother and sister-in-law Warren (Donna) Nikkel, brother Brent Nikkel, and sister-in-law Deborah D. Nikkel.

Those left to honor the memory of Pam include her husband Paul Alan Bolles of Altoona; son and daughter-in-law Anthony Alan “Tony” (Alissa) Bolles of Long Grove; daughter-in-law Suzanne Bolles of Waukee; six grandchildren Harper Bolles, Treyton Bolles, Makynli Bolles, Ryker Bolles, Axyl Bolles, and Layne Bolles; sister and brother-in-law Diane (Jay) Bruxvoort of Oskaloosa; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry (Connie) Nikkel of Altoona, Ervin (Kim) Nikkel of Reasnor, and Verlin (Peggy) Nikkel of Oskaloosa, Judy (Stuit) Nikkel, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Altoona United Methodist Church. Interment was in Altoona Cemetery.
