Mark Sukkel, 56

Mark Ray Sukkel, 56, died at home on Friday, Apr. 23, 2021, of complications from recent surgery. Mark was born May 21, 1964, in Grinnell and was a lifelong resident of the Reasnor/Monroe area. Mark was a 1983 graduate of PCM and spent his early years farming with his father near Reasnor. He held a commercial driver's license and drove for several area businesses.

Mark was a kind and gentle person who enjoyed life, family members, and many friends. The simple pleasures in life brought him satisfaction and joy. He always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always there to help and brighten the lives of others. Mark will be remembered lovingly and will be forever missed.

He is survived by his life partner, Connie Clark of Monroe; and his sister, Marlys DeVries of Pleasant Hill; and nieces Valerie DeVries of Waukee and Veronica (Jeff) Wares of Runnells; nephew Vance DeVries of Altoona; and great-nephews Jacob and Jordan Wares and Blake DeVries. Mark will also be greatly missed by Connie's two sons, Todd and Wade (Tonya) Farver and grandchildren Evelyn and Nick Farver. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Neola Sukkel.

The family hosted a visitation on Sunday, May 2, at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe from 1-3 p.m.
