Lyle “Rosco” Martin, 61

Lyle “Rosco” Mar-tin, 61, of Lynnville, passed away Monday afternoon, Mar. 30, 2026, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. A Celebration of Life/ Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Apr. 8, at the Lynnville Fire Department with a meal being served. A private family burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynnville Fire Department.

Lyle Ross Martin, the son of Robert and Geraldine (Van Sant) Martin, was born Apr. 28, 1964, in Iowa City. He attended Lynnville-Sully High School before receiving his GED. Rosco’s mom, Geraldine, married Delbert Allison when the kids were at a young age, and he taught them a lot and helped them throughout life. Lyle held several jobs throughout life from delivering Des Moines Register newspapers, to Van’s Machine Shop, to Pella Roofing, to Kruseman Fertilizer, and finally Wehrle Trucking where he started out as mechanic and drove truck for over 28 years before retiring. Over his trucking career, he met a lot of super nice and amazing people. Following retirement, he helped clean milkweed seed for Carroll Hoksbergen.

Rosco married Barb Johnson McGee on June 27, 1992, at Barb’s parents’ backyard in Montezuma. Rosco and Barb had a great life together. They enjoyed camping with friends at Good Guys Car Show and Iowa State Fair. He was a 40-plus year member of the Lynnville Fire Department.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Barb of Lynnville; a stepson, Mike McGee; his sisters, Charlyce and Phyllis; his brother, Jay; his niece, Jennifer Cross; his nephews, Daniel Martin and Ryan Martin; along with other cousins, in-laws, and many friends.

Rosco was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Tom; and his parents-in-law Marvin and Jean Johnson.
