Funeral services for Lowell Gene Jansen, 71, of Chickasha, OK, were held Mar. 5, 2014, at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel, Chickasha. Interment in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

Lowell Gene Jansen was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Killduff to Louis and Henrietta (Elscott) Jansen. He passed away on Saturday, Mar. 1, in Lawton, OK.

He grew up in Iowa. He was born into a strong Dutch family and was proud of his heritage.

He served in the United States Army from February 1966 to February 1968. He completed basic training at Ft. Sill, OK, served in Vietnam a year, and returned to Ft. Sill. After discharge, he chose to stay in Oklahoma. Lowell and Linda met when he went to Linda’s Beauty College as a representative of Veterans State Accrediting Agency. He married Linda Adams in January 1984 in Chickasha.

Lowell woke every day singing and enjoyed each day to the full. It was said that Lowell woke so early that he woke up God. He enjoyed his work as a Training Specialist for the Developmental Disabilities Service Division, and he loved teaching writing. He taught as an adjunct instructor of English at various institutions in Oklahoma. Lowell loved his children and grandchildren and constantly bragged with pictures and words to any who would listen. Lowell will be missed by family and friends, but we can take heart because he is in our future through Jesus Christ our Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Jansen.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Jansen; children: Mark (Boni) Adams and Kim (Robert) Drummond; grandchildren: Jon Drummond, Jacquelyn Drummond, Jackie Adams, and Jordan Adams; two brothers: Harris (Betty) Jansen and Dale (Irma) Jansen; two sisters: Lola Klein and Norma Bartlow; and many nieces and nephews.
