Lloyd Henry Brand was born May 29, 1932, to Jacob and Mabel (Renaud) Brand. He passed away at age 89 at Park Centre in Newton on Sept. 16, 2021.
Jan. 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Arlene Beyer in The Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union they were blessed with three children: Gale, Dale, and Lisa. Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 12, 1953. He attained the rank of Corporal, completed eight years of service under Universal Military Training and Service Act, and was honorably discharged in 1961. Lloyd was a farmer and made truck deliveries for Co-Line. He served on the board of directors for Taintor Cooperative and Pella REC. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pella.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Gale and Brent Larsen of Grinnell, Dale and Tana Brand of Sully, and the late Lisa and Ron Jansen of Pella; five grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Loder of Arvada, CO.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, his parents, his daughter Lisa Jansen, his brother Roscoe (Wilma) Brand, and his brother-in-law Ervin Loder.
Private funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 20, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Pella. The service was livestreamed on the Garden Chapel YouTube page at 11 a.m. A public visitation was held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Monday also at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Wesley Life Hospice or Lisa Jansen Memorial Leadership Scholarship.
