Linda G. Verhey, 76

Linda G. Verhey, 76, passed away Feb. 20, 2022, sur-rounded by loved ones. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Third Church, 708 East 13th Street, Pella. Memorial donations have been designated for Hospice of Pella and Mobility Worldwide IA (P.E.T.) of Leighton.

Linda was born Jan. 30, 1946, to Andrew and Ruth (Castorf) Ver Woert in Sully. She grew up in Sully on their family farm with her three siblings and graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School.

While in high school, she met Gerrit Verhey during a study hall and instantly fell in love with his fun personality. Gerrit and Linda were married July 10, 1964, and to this union they were blessed with three children: Lisa Dawn, Marcy Jane, and Timothy Gerrit.

Linda enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Linda loved to spoil her grands and greats with gifts and always gave the best cards. She cherished her loved ones and was there for guidance and support.

In her free time, she enjoyed yard work, tending to her flowers, helping others, and sharing the Word of the Lord. Linda helped us see God’s work, through the good times and the bad. Her contagious spirit blessed many and will continue to do so from the heavens above. Her bubbly smile is beaming at us all and letting the world know, “It’ll be okay.”

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Gerrit, and their three children and families: Lisa Verhey of Des Moines, Marcy (Joe) Fisher of Des Moines, and Tim (Martha) Verhey of Hendersonville, TN.

Linda is also survived by her sister Ruthanne Van Wyk of Pella; siblings-in-law: Carol Ver Woert of Pella, Pat Ver Woert of Sully, Mary Miller of Newton, Mick Dunsbergen of Cheyenne, WY, Pete (Carol) Verhey, Jr. of Pella, Nellie (Mark) Vander Schel of Pella, Randy (Linda) Verhey of Otley, Dennis (Sharon) Verhey of Pella, and Pam Verhey of Lynnville; many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law Peter and Metje Verhey; brothers Robert and Joseph Ver Woert; sister-in-law in infancy Nellie Verhey; brother-in-law in infancy Abraham Verhey; siblings-in-law Walter Miller, Liz (Jerald) Sneller, and Dick Dunsbergen; and brothers-in-law Marvin Van Wyk and Abe Verhey; and great-grandson Avery Mayn.
