Leo Edwards Daniels, 80

Leo Edwards Daniels, 80, of Reasnor died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to the Killduff United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home.

Leo, the son of Andy and Annie (McAdoo) Daniels, was born June 5, 1937, in Kinta, OK. His family later moved to Iowa where Leo graduated from Oskaloosa High School.

Leo was united in marriage with Frances Jean Brisel on Dec. 27, 1959, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He worked in the maintenance department at the Maytag Company in Newton for over 32 years, retiring on May 31, 1991. He was a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church, UAW Local 997, the Mustang Club, and the American Poolplayers Association. Leo enjoyed bowling, playing pool, fishing, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Those left to honor Leo’s memory are his wife, Jean Daniels of Reasnor; children, Sandra (Randy) Naaktgeboren of Knoxville, Wayne (Reda) Daniels of Killduff, and Stacie (Maury) Van Der Wilt of Sully; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grand- children; and a sister, Geraldine Visser of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry Daniels; two brothers, James and Lonzo Daniels; and a sister, Louise Randall.
