Larry Eugene De Penning, 86, of Ottumwa, died Apr. 1, 2023, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Friday, Apr. 7, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor John Johnson officiating. Burial was in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Larry was born July 8, 1936, in Newton to Herman and Beatrice Lucille (Van Wyk) De Penning. Larry married Judith Anne Sanders on Sept. 18, 1975, and she preceded him in death on Mar. 10, 2002. He married Christine McNeely on Oct. 18, 2002, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 2010.
A 1954 graduate of Sully High School, Larry was a Teamster for 35+ years, driving mostly for Yellow Freight. He retired in 2000. He then drove for Ottumwa Transit for 15 years.
Larry was a member of Hickory Grove Community Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, country music, and ice cream, and he loved spending time with family, especially grandkids.
Surviving are his son Patrick (Alison) De Penning of Nevada; four grandchildren Garrett, Joseph, Sydney, and Emma; a great-grandchild Oaklen; brothers Howard De Penning of Sully and Carroll (Nancy) De Penning of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
