Ken Wisgerhof, 77

Memorial services for Ken Wisgerhof, 77, of Newton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. The family will greet friends following the service during lunch at the church. Memorials may be designated in Ken’s name to the Community Heights Alliance Church or the Izaak Walton League and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.

William Ken Wisgerhof, the son of W. Glenn and Tenny (Kolfscholten) Wisgerhof, was born Apr. 19, 1939, in Newton. Ken graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the Class of 1957.

Ken served his country in the United States Army. He was partner and owner of the Wisgerhof Real Estate and Insurance Company for many years.

Feb. 22, 1991, Ken was united in marriage with Barb Carpenter in Newton. Ken was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and going to auctions. Ken was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed his time and past involvement with Newton Rotary, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever.

Ken died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at his home in Newton. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kay Wisgerhof.

Those left to honor Ken’s memory include his wife, Barb, of Newton; his son, Scott (Melinda) Wisgerhof of White Bear Township, MN; his daughter, Heather (Mike) Saunders of North Liberty; his stepson, Jason Elliott of Newton; his stepdaughters, Sarah Miller and Lindsey Slycord of Newton; his grandchildren, Reed Wisgerhof, Rory Wisgerhof, Rachael Saunders, Ella Saunders; his nine stepgrandchildren; and his brother, Kirk Wisgerhof.
