Kelly J Miller, 68, of Reasnor, passed away Mar. 2, 2023, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
The memorial service was at 10:30 a.m., Monday Mar. 6, at Sully Community Church to be followed by a burial at a later date. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Kelly Miller Benefit Fund to benefit the Lynnville-Sully School and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Kelly was born Nov. 21, 1954, to James H. and Dorothy (Gardner) Miller. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1973. In 1980, he was united in marriage to Debbie Nikkel at Grinnell Christian Church. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Kelli and Kristi.
Kelly enjoyed working many years for the co-ops and driving trucks. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandkids in their activities, along with golfing, Galesburg pool days, mowing his yard, cheering on the Hawkeyes and Packers, and Marshall Tucker concerts. He will be remembered by his special handshake with the grandkids, his “funny” one-liners, and being a faithful sports fan. He was known as “Grandpa Kelly” to many kids, and he made each grandkid feel like his “favorite” even though there are many debates. Most of all, if he knew you, he loved you.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, and their two daughters Kelli (Ryan) Johnson and Kristi (Jeff) Brummel and “bonus” daughter Brynne (Mark) Winegar; seven grandchildren: Cayden (Jordyn) Johnson, Brodey (Stella Terpstra) Johnson, Kendric Johnson, Ava and Dawson Brummel, and Denali and Gunner Winegar, and one great-grandchild, Beau Kelly Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, as well as two brothers Kyle and Sean Miller.
