Karen Burkett, 68

Karen L. Burkett, 68, of Linn Creek, MO, passed away  Wednes-day, July 7, 2021, at home. She was born July 8, 1952, to Harley and Lorraine (Shuck) Papke in Aberdeen, SD. She married Lyle R. Burkett on July 6, 1973, in Keosauqua.

Karen was half owner of two businesses in which she served as financial manager. She was also the sole owner of an exercise business, Why Weight. However, her most meaningful accomplishment was the care of both parents and in-laws (Fred and Mildred Burkett) in their waning years. Additionally, it was her desire to be the “Better Half,” not just an equal,  and she was for 48 years.

Karen is survived by her husband, Lyle; their three children, Jeff Burkett of Sully, Katie (Clint) Roth of Wayland, and Chet (Ashley) Burkett of Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren, Allison, Evie, Maddie, Cara, and Cade Burkett, and Cooper and Carli Roth.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial remembrance with fellowship and a meal to follow is being planned to take place at Grace Alive Church in Prairie City on Saturday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow immediately.

All memorials will go to the Grace Alive Building Fund and can be mailed to Grace Alive, 703 West 2nd Street, Prairie City, IA 50228.
