Julia Rumer, 69

Julia Kay Rumer was born July 18, 1952, to Dick and Minnie (Van Maanen) Terpstra in Lynnville. She passed away Jan. 4, 2022. Services were held Friday, Jan. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Third Church in Pella. Private inurnment was in Graceland Cemetery, Pella. Memorials have been designated for Hospice of Pella.

Aug. 27, 1971, she was united in marriage to Larry Rumer in Newton. To this union they were blessed with two children Christopher and Heidi.

Julia was an amazing grandma, mom, and wife who dearly loved her family! She was a welcoming, giving person, who never knew a stranger. Julia was a talented seamstress and made personalized quilts for each of her grandchildren. The Christmas season was her favorite season, and she enjoyed Black Friday shopping, too. Julia worked for Pella Corp for 35 years in human resources and event planning.

Those left to cherish her memory are Larry her husband of 50 years and their family: Chris (Angie) Rumer, Jack Rumer and fiancée Carissa Cowman and Grant Rumer; and Heidi (Chris) Watkins, Lainey Watkins, and Sam Watkins.

Julia is also survived by her siblings: Alberta (the late Marion) Pol of Pella, Viola (the late Ed) Goemaat of Pella, Richard (Mary) Terpstra of Pella, Marilyn (the late Marvin) May of Pella, Vernon (Kay) Terpstra of Monroe, Virgil (Bertha) Terpstra of Pella, Ivan (Nancy) Terpstra of Newton, and Twyla Meyers of Pella; her mother-in-law Betty Rumer; her sister-in-law Shirley (Mike) Pendleton of Ankeny; and  her brother-in-law Dale (Susan) Rumer of Walford.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Lynn Rumer, sisters Irene Bennick and Donna Asher, and two brothers in infancy Wilbur and Delano.
