John Pias Minor, Jr. was born June 28, 1959, to Rita McKeag and John Minor Sr. in Grinnell. As a child, John's adventurous spirit was evident, and he spent countless hours exploring the beauty of the Iowa countryside. He grew into a skilled and talented welder and was loved by family and friends.
In his leisure time, John found solace in fishing, a passion he embraced throughout his life. Whether casting his line into a serene lake or a bubbling stream, the quiet moments spent fishing brought him a sense of peace and connection with nature.
John's love for sports was evident in his enthusiastic support of the Iowa Wild Hockey team and the Iowa Barnstormers arena football team. He would often be found cheering loudly from the stands, sharing the excitement of the game with his fellow friends.
Family was at the center of John's heart, and he treasured the moments he spent with his daughter Alyssa Lambert and her husband Justin Lambert. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Logan Hunter, Allison Lambert, and Katelyn Lambert. Their laughter and joy brought immense happiness to John's life, and he cherished every opportunity to be a part of their lives.
In this time of grief, may we find comfort in the memories we shared with John and the love he brought into our lives. As we say goodbye to a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, may we keep his spirit alive in our hearts and continue to find joy in the passions he held dear.
John is survived by his daughter Alyssa (Justin) Lambert of Kellogg; grandchildren Logan Hunter, Allison Lambert, and Katelyn Lambert; his mother Rita (Roger) Beason of Montezuma; and his siblings David Minor of Indianola and Lonnie Minor of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his father.
