Jeremy DeGeeter, 43, of Victor passed away with his family at his side on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life was held Jan. 13 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating.

Jeremy was born July 11, 1971, in Grinnell to Richard and Diane Gray DeGeeter. He was raised in Victor and graduated from HLV High School with the Class of 1989. He spent the summer after graduation working at the Victor Lumber Yard. He then pursued further education at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and received his degree as an auto collision tech.

Jeremy began his career working with Dan Behaunek Auto Body Shop in Belle Plaine for several years, prior to holding auto repair positions in Williamsburg and in Scottsdale, AZ. Later in his career, he was employed at Dick Hansen's Construction in Victor, Menards in Iowa City, and the Pilot Truck Stop.

Jeremy enjoyed auto painting and the challenge of making a vehicle look perfect again, building model rockets, fishing in the family pond to see who could catch the biggest fish, watching NASCAR, vacationing and snowmobiling in Wisconsin, and he was an avid football fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Those left to cherish Jeremy's memory are his parents, Richard and Diane DeGeeter of Victor; his brother, Shane (Jeni) DeGeeter of Sully; niece and nephew, Danica and Sylas DeGeeter; uncles, Derry (LeAnn) Gray and Roger (Shirley) DeGeeter; aunts, Juanita (Jim) VanWaus and Janice (Bob) Gritsch; and stepgrandmother, Nadine Gray.
