Howard D. Huyser, 90

 

Howard Dean Huyser, the son of Gerrit and Anna Marie (DeJong) Huyser, was born Nov. 29, 1930, at home on the farm near Sully. He was baptized at Sully First Reformed Church where he continued to attend throughout his lifetime.

Howard lived on the family farm with his father and stepmother and helped with the farming operation, chores, and keeping the lawn mowed. He was a hard worker at whatever he did. He also assisted his father and stepmother when they were custodians at Sully First Reformed Church.

After the death of his father and his stepmother, Howard went to live at Christian Opportunity Center in Pella. For a number of years while living there, Howard did the lawn mowing at COC. Howard passed away at the age of 90 on Feb. 20, 2021, while being cared for at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Sully First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his brother Myron Keith and wife Nancy Huyser of Badger; his sister Lynda Renaud of Sully; his sister-in-law Linda Huyser of Auxvasse, MO; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Helen (DePenning) Huyser, and the following brothers and sisters: Edward William, Wilma Adelle, Kenneth Charles, Edward John and his wife Ila Mae, Vernon Gerrit and his wife Lucille, Gerrit Wesley (Gary), and brother-in-law Larry Renaud.
