Herman C. Rook, 90

Herman C. Rook, 90, of Pella, passed away Thurs-day, Dec. 17, 2020. Private funeral services were held  Monday, Dec. 21.  Memorials have been designated for Heartland Reformed Church and American Cancer Society (in honor of his brother Lawrence Rook).

Herman C. Rook was born Apr. 20, 1930, to Cornelius “Case” and Ella (Stehr) Rook, near Indianola.

At age four, the family moved to a farm in the Sandridge community near Pella. Herman attended country school at Sandridge and later Pella Community High School.

Jan. 17, 1956, Herman was united in marriage to Marcella Goemaat at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, four children were born: Carol, Laureen, Keith, and Larry. He was a farmer - first with his father and brother Lawrence, and later with his two sons Keith and Larry. He enjoyed farm life with his family and especially enjoyed feeding cattle and driving trucks. Herman and Marcella enjoyed many winters together in Texas.

Herman made his profession of faith at Third Reformed Church in Pella. He was currently a member of Heartland Reformed Church in Pella.

Herman is survived by his wife Marcella and their four children: Carol (Verlan) Van Dyke, Laureen (Marlin) Van Wyk, Keith (Lynn) Rook, and Larry (Terrie) Rook. Herman loved each of his nine grandchildren and their families: Michael Van Dyke, Kevin (Ashley) Van Dyke, Bradley Van Dyke and fiancée Markee Raasch, Lance (Amanda) Van Wyk, Cody Van Wyk, Katelyn (Nick) Beyer, Jared (Amber) Rook, Jordan Rook, and Nacy (Megan) Rook. Herman also leaves great-grandchildren Kaden Van Dyke, Ellie Van Dyke, Blaine Van Dyke, Brooks Van Dyke, Jordyn Van Wyk, Kenzlie Rook, Kyler Rook, and Kase Rook.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Lawrence, paternal grandparents John and Gerritje (Korze) Rook, and maternal grandparents Henry and Minnie (Loukow) Stehr.
