Gloria Billingsley, 77

Gloria Jean Billingsley, 77, of Prairie City, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, at The Comfort House in Pella. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Burial was at Waveland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Pella Comfort House and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Rose Cruz, Gloria was born Feb. 15, 1945, in Aiea, HI. She met her husband James Joseph Billingsley in 1962 while he was deployed in Hawaii, and they fell in love. Sept. 15, 1962, they were united in marriage. As a grandmother, she was generous, loving, and kind. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed sitting in the sun on her front porch and watching people walk by. She loved to bake and share her treats with others as well as crocheting. Gloria and Jim enjoyed camping and visiting with friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her three daughters Sheila (Brent) Vander Leest, Bobbi (Michael) Streeter, and Wanda (Kyle) Van Houweling; six grandchildren Jamie (J.J.) Linderman, Tyler Vander Leest, Adam (Amy) Streeter, Seth (Jessica) Streeter, Courtney Van Houweling, and Koby Van Houweling; and seven great-grandchildren Blake and Brody Wyngarden, Rowen, Kentlee, and Karsyn Streeter, and Ezra and Elijah Streeter. Also surviving are her siblings Rosemarie Zane, Manuel Lacanaria, Lawrence Lacanaria, Eugene Lacanaria, Verona Rhodes, and Valerie McCormack; sisters- and brothers-in-law Sharon and Richard Boner and Karen and Doug Vande Krol along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Gloria in death were her mother, husband in 2018, mother- and father-in-law James E. and Betty Billingsley, and siblings Helen Ebia, Miriam Inay, Lolita Basug, Gary Baclaan, and Alan Baclaan.
