Gaylor Carter, 75

Gaylor Ray Carter, 75, passed away May 13, 2022. Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Memorials have been designated for Albia Baptist Temple, 624 A Avenue West, Albia, IA 52531.

Gaylor was born to Raymond and Laurina (Tessendorf) Carter on Apr. 18, 1947, in Eldora.

Gaylor attended high school in Albia and Pella before graduating from Thomas Road Bible Institute with a degree in pastoral ministry.

Mar. 13, 1966, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Tukker in Pella. To this union they were blessed with four children: Paula, Scott, James, and Stephen.

Gaylor and his family lived in many places as part of his job as a missionary pastor for Baptist International Mission Inc., but much of his ministry was spent in Australia where he was a missionary for 35 years. Gaylor also loved working with his hands, as well as playing and watching sports, especially football.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy and their family: Paula (David) Allan, Scott Carter, James (Holly) Carter, and Stephen (Rachel) Carter; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Larry (Beth) Carter of Lusby, MD, Lawrence (Norma) Carter of Pella, Bob (Sherry) Carter of Steamboat Spring, CO; sister-in-law Sheryl Carter of Sully; and many friends in Australia.

Gaylor was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ramona Jackson, and brother Loren Carter.
