Gary Wesley Huyser, 83, of Auxvasse, MO, passed away at his home on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020.
He was born in Sully on July 13, 1937, to the late Gerrit Huyser and the late Marie (De Jong) Huyser.
Gary loved going to the Iowa State Fair, NASCAR races, tractor pulls, and to Branson for country music shows.
Part of his life’s enjoyment was vanilla ice cream and chocolate malts. However, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gary was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Dallas County (Iowa) Pork Producers, and National Tractor Pulling Association.
When he was a young man growing up in Iowa, he was awarded the Dallas County Outstanding Young Farmer Award.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Linda Lou (Van Der Kamp) Huyser, and their children Scott (Lori) Huyser of Auxvasse, MO, and Kim (Scott) Sponsler of Chariton; brothers Myron (Nancy) Huyser of Badger and Howard Huyser of Pella; sister Lynda Renaud of Sully; grandchildren: Sherry Ewing, Tim (Michelle) House, Tara (Chad) McDade, Matt (Jessica) Huyser, Ryan (Abby) Sponsler, and Amanda Sponsler; and great-grandchildren: Boston and Brie Ewing, Liam and Lexi House, Charlotte, Caden, and Faith McDade, Tristan Young, Courtney and Ella Huyser, and Henric Sponsler.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by stepmother Helen Huyser; in-laws Milo and Velma Van Der Kamp; brothers Ed, Vernon, and Kenneth Huyser; sister Wilma Huyser; and brother-in-law Larry Renaud.
Private graveside services were held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
