Earl Vande Krol, 92

Earl Vande Krol, 92, formerly of Sully, died at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, 2016. A memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 30, at Sully Community Church. Memorials have been designated for the church’s missionary fund.

Earl Wayne Vande Krol was born Feb. 22, 1924, to Geurt and Della (Veldhuizen) Vande Krol in Lynnville. Earl attended school in Lynnville through the eighth grade and lived most of his life in the Lynnville-Sully area.

Earl was united in marriage with Mary Lois Schmidt on May 23, 1945, in Oskaloosa. They were blessed with three children: Phyllis, Wes, and Marilyn.

Throughout his life, Earl was a farmer, milk truck driver, and a courier for Pella Regional Heath Center.

Earl was a member of the Sully Community Church. He loved to read, study the Bible, and teach Sunday School. Earl strongly supported missions at his church. He loved being with his grandchildren and taking them on the milk route with him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Phyllis (Jerry) Hackert of Sully, Wes (Jaci) Vande Krol of Lynnville, and Marilyn (Mike) Hovda of Grinnell; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; as well as his sisters-in-law, Gladys Vande Krol and Helen Vande Krol.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brothers: Harold and Marie Vande Krol, Glen and Nola Vande Krol, Roy Vande Krol, and Milo Vande Krol; sister, Maurine and Cleo Van Der Kamp; and great-granddaughter, Angela Hackert.
