Dwight Thompson, 92

Harold Dwight Thompson, 92, of  New Sharon and formerly of Lynnville, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his New Sharon Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.  Burial was in Friends Cemetery at New Sharon. Memorials may be directed to the Harvest Community Fellowship.

Harold Dwight Thompson was born Nov. 25, 1928, to Harold and Helen Laprad Thompson at Montezuma. Dwight attended and graduated from the New Sharon High School in 1947. He married Beverly Mae Williams on June 12, 1949, at the Friends Church in New Sharon. He spent six years in the Navy and was discharged in 1958.  He was a sonar operator aboard  the USS Walke. After returning home, they bought a farm south of Lynnville. Dwight farmed until his passing. He was a member of the American Legion and Harvest Community Fellowship. He helped build the Taintor Community Church where he attended for several years. He was also a member of Coffin-Mioller Post 446. He was an excellent leather and wood crafter. He loved his family and enjoyed coffee club with all of his friends.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beverly, of 72 years.

Survivors are his son, Mark (Pat) Thompson of New Sharon; his daughter, Michelle De Penning of New Sharon; his grandchildren, Cameron (Tiffany) De Penning, Jasmine Aubry and Valerie Aubry;  his great-grandchildren, Liam Emerson, Bryer De Penning, Jeremiah Aubry, and Luna Bear; and his brother, Robert (Jeanette) Thompson of Sibley; as well as many other friends and relatives.
