Dorothy Gose, 95

Dorothy Gose, 95, of Afton, passed away Monday, Apr. 10, 2017, at her home. Cele- bration of life memorial services were held Apr. 15 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Private family burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorials are to the Gibson Memorial Library. Online condol-ences can be given at powersfh.com.

Dorothy Nellie Gose, daughter of Frank V. and Ida A. (Guitzkow) Miller was born Mar. 27, 1922, in Belmond. She graduated from Clarion High School as the valedictorian of her class in 1939. After high school, she worked for a lawyer doing clerical and abstract work. Dorothy later began working for the First National Bank in Clarion.

Sept. 10, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Bueford Eugene Gose in Sioux Falls, SD. They settled in Clarion, where Dorothy continued in banking. Next, they moved to Fort Dodge, where Dorothy was an active mother and homemaker and worked at an area bank about 10 years as the head bookkeeper and also helped Bueford with their small neighborhood grocery store.

In 1966, they moved to Afton where Dorothy stayed busy helping with the farm. Dorothy was a member of the Creston United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Post Script Club, and played Bingo at the Congregate Meal Site. Together, the couple attended many horse shows and assisted with 4-H activities.

Dorothy is survived by her four daughters: Joan Gose of Sully, Gerene (John) Shaw of Fenton, Pamela Mayes of Ft. Collins, CO, and Wendy Gose of Gilmore City; five grandchildren, Vern (Lisa) Allison of Hazelwood, MO, Janelle (Heath) Baker of Leonard, TX, Mandee (Tim) Lind of Ames, Donavan (Megan) Mayes of Ft. Collins, CO, and Kimberly Gezel of Des Moines; 12 great-grand-children; and a sister, Merlene Peterson, of Eagle Grove.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bueford "Doc" Gose in 2006; brothers, Gilbert and Donald Miller; and a sister, Lucille.
