Doris Strovers, 91

Doris Ann Strovers, 91, of Charleston, AR, and formerly of Sully, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born May 16, 1932, in Newton, to the late Earl and Elsa Swanson Clement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester Roy Strovers, Jr.; and two sisters.

Doris married Lester Strovers, Jr. on Nov. 16, 1952, and resided in the Kellogg and Sully area for many years, moving to the Des Moines area in 1995, and to Arkansas in 2018. For 25 years, she was employed by Lynnville-Sully School in Sully as a bus driver and then custodian before retiring in 1994. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, baking goodies, and doing word puzzles. She loved her family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Carol) Strovers of Red Oak; two daughters Jacki Strovers of Lavaca, AR, and Jodi (Jeff) Arment of Cecil, AR; a sister Phyllis Cavitt of Newton; her grandchildren Eric Strovers and his girlfriend Jodi Dierks of Omaha, NE, Colten (Baylei) Arment of Washington, and Katie Arment of Grinnell; and her great-grandkids Jon and Anna Strovers.

Cremation graveside service for burial in Iowa will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at Newton Union Cemetery under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
