Dixie Lorenz, 74

Dixie Lynn (Fleck) Lorenz, 74, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics in Knoxville.

Dixie’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, June 15, at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 4-6 p.m. with Dixie’s family present to greet friends and relatives.

Dixie was born Mar. 23, 1947, at the Mahaska County Hospital. She attended Eddyville High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. Dixie was united in marriage to Dan Brees in 1967. They were blessed with two children, Bryan and Lisa. They later divorced, and in 2005, Dixie married Adrian Lorenz. They were married until his passing in 2013. Dixie worked at the Overall Factory in Oskaloosa, Boomsma’s Egg Factory in Pella, and for a short time at the Knoxville Raceway Laundromat.

Dixie had a passion for fishing. She enjoyed cooking, dark chocolate Dove candy, and orange slices. She especially loved spending time with her family. They will remember her as ornery, loving, and not afraid to speak her mind. Dixie had a great sense of humor, and her family enjoyed teasing her by calling her Trixie. She was deeply loved by them all and will be forever missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Bryan Brees (Angela Pitts), and Lisa Brees (Brad Sills); mother Irene Fleck of Lynnville; sister Vickie (Ron) Nikkel of Lynnville; five grandchildren, Joshua Brees, Mark Hannan, Brett Hannan, Amber Hannan, and Abby Brees; also one step great-grandson, Gabe Washing-ton.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband Adrian Lorenz; father Ray Fleck; granddaughter Haley Noel Brees; and brother LaVerne Fleck.
