Dennis L. Sparks, 75

 

Dennis L. Sparks, 75, died Friday, June 24, 2022, at MercyOne Hospice Johnston. His graveside service with military honors was at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville conducted by Dennis’ brother-in-law Rev. Emmett Kadwell of Shelbyville, MI. Memorials in Dennis’ name (please make checks payable to Jason Sparks) may be left at Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.

Dennis L. Sparks, son of Lloyd E. and Alice (Ratcliff) Sparks, was born Apr. 8, 1947, in Oskaloosa. He was a graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School in 1965. Dennis served his country in the U.S. Army from June of 1966 to July of 1968.

Apr. 25, 1970, Dennis was united in marriage with Judy Cleverley Sparks in Baxter. They were blessed with a son Jason. After Judy’s death, Dennis was united in marriage with Carol Sue Williams Wearmouth Sparks on Dec. 22, 1984, in Lynnville. Her boys Troy and Gabe Wearmouth joined Dennis’ family. Dennis had worked many different jobs in his 39+ years in the factory for the Maytag Company. He loved being with his family. Dennis also enjoyed working in his yard and in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Judy Cleverley Sparks and Carol Wearmouth Sparks; grandchildren Peyton and Liam Sparks; and brother Larry Sparks.

Those left to honor Dennis’ memory are his sons Jason (Shawnee) Sparks, Troy Wear-mouth, and Gabe Wearmouth, all of Newton; four grandchildren Tayler Wearmouth of Newton, Tyler Sparks of Des Moines, McKenzie Sparks of Newton, and Ashley Stafford of Branson, MO; his siblings, Lloydeana (Jim) Stewart of Newton, William “Bill” (Lyndia) Sparks of Lynnville, Mary (Emmett) Kadwell of Shelbyville, MI, and Mildred (Rich) Henschel of Newton; many nieces and nephews; and his Cleverly and Wearmouth in-laws.
