David L. Schippers, 79, of Lynnville, died Thurs-day, Oct. 1, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center in Newton. Graveside service was at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, at Bethel Cemetery north of Lynnville conducted by Chaplain Kevin Glesener, lead chaplain at Vermeer Corporation. The son of Louis and Annie (DePenning) Schippers, David was born Dec. 7, 1940, in rural Reasnor.
Mar. 24, 1961, David was united in marriage with Shirley K. Rozendaal in Sully. They were blessed with two children, Malinda “Mindy” and Todd. David had been a welder and material handler at Farmhand in Grinnell and at Vermeer Corporation in Pella. He had enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor David’s memory are his wife of 59 years, Shirley of Lynnville; daughter, Malinda “Mindy” Schippers of Overland Park, KS; son, Todd Schippers (Geneva Mitchell) of Searsboro; granddaughter, Brooke White of Overland Park, KS; sister, Phyllis Ditch of Marion; sister-in-law, Joan Rozendaal of Cedar Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
