Dave Bussard, 51

David Andrew Bussard, 51, of West Des Moines, passed away Saturday, Sept 11, 2021, after battling COVID since July. Dave was born Mar. 14, 1970, in Normal, IL. He owned Iowa Window Service and Dusty Buzzard Chainsaw Carving.

Dave was a man who lived fully and loved fiercely. He was a faithful husband, loving father, and loyal friend. Dave was quick to laugh, slow to judge, and spoke truth no matter the cost. He was always ready to help, would do anything for his friends, and knew just how to make you feel welcome and loved. His life here was marked by principle, hard work, adventure, laughter, and a tender heart. He was an author, artist, entrepreneur, jokester, and life of the party. He enjoyed entertaining us with his abundant stories, which he told so well. Dave was an “all in” kind of guy who worked hard, played hard, laughed hard, but mostly, loved hard. He was a courageous warrior and a valiant protector who knew how to connect with people of all ages and from all walks of life on a real, meaningful level. Dave was a man his friends loved walking through life with. He boldly loved Jesus and it gives us courage to know that he lives today with his Savior. We are all better for having known him and can carry on his legacy by heeding his final commission to “Love more deeply.”

Dave is survived by his wife, Carmen Bussard; son, Jake Bussard; parents, Tom and Mary Bussard; and sister, Lori Diehl.

Dave's life was celebrated Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Fox Creek Center in Waukee. Memorials have been designated to Wildwood Hills Ranch or sent directly to the family to help with medical expenses. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at mclarensresthaven-chapel.com for the Bussard family.
