Danny D. “Bud” Bishop, 55

Danny D. “Bud” Bishop, 55, of Iowa City died Fri-day, Oct. 21, 2016. Memorial services were held Oct. 26 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, The Danny “Bud” Bishop Memorial Fund has been established.

Bud was born Oct. 25, 1960, in Newton, the son of Coy and Judith Parsons Bishop. He was a 1979 graduate of Newton High School. June 22, 1996, Bud married Sherry (Geurts) Hoagland (formerly of Lynnville) in Iowa City.

Following high school, Bud lived in Texas and Tennessee, moving to Iowa City 23 years ago. Bud drove heavy equipment and was a truck driver with over one million miles logged. He later worked for Harley-Davidson and NAPA.

Most important to Bud was his family and many friends. He loved rock and roll and time spent fishing and watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes. He was a Harley- Davidson enthusiast and owner. He was a member of HOG and ABATE and VFW #3949.

Bud is survived by his wife Sherry and two sons, Todd Hoagland of Coralville and Rodd Hoagland of Monroe; two grandchildren, Chloe Hoagland of Iowa City and Sabin DeJoode of Pella; his siblings, Diane (Mike) Richards, Dana Woody, and Darla (Craig) Modlin, all of Newton, and Douglas (DeAnn) Bishop of Baxter, and his father-in-law, Melvin Geurts of Grinnell.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Thadd and Chadd.
