Colleen Fox, 85

Colleen Fox, 85 of New Sharon passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 29, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in New Sharon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.

Colleen Fox, the daughter of Homer and Zella (Kirby) Briggs, was born July 3, 1930, in New Sharon. She graduated from New Sharon High School in 1948. Colleen was married to Wayne Fox Aug. 22, 1948. To this union two children were born, Leann and Gene. They later divorced. Colleen was a lifelong resident of New Sharon and owned Stockman's Inn Cafe for several years before buying Jean's Cafe in New Sharon. Colleen then owned and operated Colleen's Maid Rite in New Sharon before moving to Des Moines to attend AIB College of Business. While in Des Moines, Colleen worked for Highland Potato Chips as its book- keeper. Colleen returned to New Sharon in the early 2000s and lived in the Prairie Homes Apartments. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the New Sharon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, and above all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her memory will be honored by her son, Gene (Kathy) Fox of New Sharon; five grandchildren, Wesley (Melanie) Hasley, Susan (Michael) Lyons, Alicia (Michael) Call, Erica (J.D.) Griffith, and Caleb (fiance, Katie Tokle) Fox; nine great- grandchildren; a sister, Louise Doonan of Pella; a son-in-law, Ray Hasley; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Leann Hasley; and two brothers, Melvin Briggs and Wavern Briggs.
