Clint Ashman, 34

Clint William Ashman, 34, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born Dec. 12, 1980, in Oskaloosa, the son of George and Shirley Vander Beek Ashman. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the Class of 1999. He went on to earn his A.A. degree from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. Early on, Clint worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Oskaloosa. He later worked for Clow Valve and Vermeer. Currently, he was taking classes for radiology. He attended and was preparing to start membership classes at Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed sports, especially rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.

His family includes his three sons, Isaiah Ashman, Josiah Ashman, and Jeremiah Ashman all of New Sharon; his parents, George and Shirley Ashman of Oskaloosa; his brother, Derek (Sarah Van Der Pol) Ashman of Kansas City, MO; his paternal grandfather, William Ashman of Oskaloosa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Leona Ashman; and his maternal grandparents, Abe and Sara Rose Vander Beek.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, in Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Jon Nelson officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery south of Fremont. Memorials may be made to his sons’ education fund.
