Clarence Meinders, 83

Clarence Meinders, 83, of Pella, died Apr. 1, 2023. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Apr. 6, at Covenant Reformed Church, Pella. Memo-rials have been designated for Mobility Worldwide IA (P.E.T.) – Leighton and World Renew.

Clarence William Meinders was born Apr. 7, 1939, to Tim and Della (Van Hulzen) Meinders in Oskaloosa. He attended the old Rose Hill School by walking on the railroad tracks. He graduated from Lacey High School.

May 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Wilma Jean De Graaf in Oskaloosa. They were blessed with five sons: Richard, Ronald, Kenneth, Calvin, and Stanley.

They first made their home in Pella. Later on, they moved to a small acreage north of Pella where they built a house and made a family home.

His first job involved painting Ford tractors for Herchel Carmichael in Oskaloosa. After that, Clarence was employed by Pella Rolscreen Company full-time for 38 years. After retiring from full-time employment, he worked part-time for 10 years giving tours and working security at Pella Corporation.

Clarence enjoyed the country lifestyle and often went back to his parents to help with farm work. He also enjoyed helping area farmers with whom he became good friends.

He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, playing board games and various outdoor activities.

Clarence is survived by his wife Wilma and their family: Ronald Meinders of Rose Hill, Kenneth (Beth) Meinders of Pella, Calvin Meinders of Knoxville, and Stanley (Sam) Meinders of Pella; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Richard.
