Cherine Schnelle, 60, of Laurel, passed away peace-fully at her home on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Chaplain Bob Spilger officiating.
Cherine was born Sept. 23, 1955, in Grinnell, the daughter of Lester and Marilyn (Ver Dught) Nikkel. She was raised and educated in the Lynnville-Sully School District, graduating from high school with the Class of 1973.
Apr. 15, 1976, Cherine married the love of her life, Michael Schnelle, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. From this union two daughters were born, Dana and Teri. Cherine had a colorful work history, finishing her working years with Swift Greenhouse in Laurel. She had a passion for gardening, her horses, and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Schnelle; two daughters: Dana (Marvin) Connor and Teri (Levi McBain) Schnelle; grandchildren: Deliah and Brody Connor; her mother, Marilyn Nikkel; siblings: Patty (Mark) Norman, Barry (Mary) Nikkel, Leslie Nikkel, and Doreen Fisk.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Nikkel; and father- and mother-in-law, Alvin and Wanda Schnelle.
