Chad A. Means, 56, of Newton, died Sept. 10, 2025, at his home. A Memorial Visitation was held 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Grinnell.
Chad Anthony Means was born May 29, 1969, in Grinnell to Benny “Ben” Means and Loretta Kriegel. Chad graduated from Grinnell High School in 1987. He worked in the parts department at Wes Finch for over 35 years. Chad most recently was the parts manager at Gregg Young Ford in Newton. In September of 1987, he married Tammy Tiedemann. The couple later divorced.
He enjoyed hunting and the trips to Missouri with the boys. Chad was an avid gun collector. His pride and joy was his family, especially his grandson Wrangler.
Chad will be remembered by his children Thaddeus (Samantha) Means of Kellogg, Halee (Jacob) Stravers of Lynnville, and Savannah Kopel of Grinnell; grandson Wrangler Good; mother Loretta Grant of Tennessee; stepmother Serana Means of Killduff; siblings Jason (Robin) Means and Ryan (Nell) Means, all from Tennessee; stepsisters, Angie (Gene) Gettys and Denise (Bob) Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Ben Means and stepdad Jim Mowrey.
