Carroll L. Weyers, 82

 

Carroll Lee Weyers, the son of Theodore Lewis and Emma Mae (Bell) Weyers, was born Dec. 18, 1938. He attended Palo Alto #5 Country School and then helped take care of the family farm. In 1959, Carroll was united in marriage with Dorothy Mae Winchell. To this union, Paul, Jackie, and Carlyn were born. Carroll had worked for Winpower, a local dairy farmer and creamery, and then for Jasper County Secondary Roads. He retired as a road supervisor in 2000. Carroll enjoyed nature. He liked to spend his downtime woodworking, fishing, turkey hunting, deer hunting, mushroom hunting, and picking strawberries. He also collected scale model trucks.

Carroll, 82, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at his home. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Helen Springer; and his brother Carl Weyers.

Those left to honor Carroll’s memory include his son, Paul Weyers; his daughters, Jackie Verwers and Carlyn (Ed) Petted; his three grandchildren, Brianna Hunter, Quinn Verwers, and Stephanie Petted; his two great-grandchildren, Drake and Onyx; his first wife, Dorothy Weyers; his siblings, Teddy Shampine, Mary Hoover, Imogene White, Kay Law, Janet Foster; many nieces and nephews; his special friend and aid for many years, Shannon Henkenius; and his dog, Candy.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 13, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be designated to the Kellogg Fire Department or the Unity Point Hospice of Grinnell and may be left at the funeral home.
